CRITICAL: Green Card Activation Timing

Green Card is mandatory vehicle insurance for all cars. Important to know:

When does it become active?
Insurance purchased TODAY will only become active TOMORROW at 00:00.

This rule applies to all types of purchase:

Online purchase (active tomorrow)
Insurance company office (active tomorrow)
Kiosk near the border (active tomorrow)

What to do?

Buy Green Card 1-2 days before your trip online
Use your existing policy (if not expired)
NOT recommended: buying at border kiosk (too late)

This is not a technical error — it's an EU insurance law.
Plan one day ahead! Without valid Green Card you cannot cross the border.

For passenger cars

To ensure a quick inspection at the Krakovets-Korchova border crossing point in a passenger car, make sure you have the necessary set of documents.

Driver's documents:

Biometric passport
International driving license
Medical insurance

Vehicle documents:

Vehicle registration certificate (technical passport)
Mandatory insurance policy Green Card

Equipment:

First aid kit, fire extinguisher, warning triangle, and reflective vest

Before crossing the border, check that EVERYTHING works:

Low beam headlights work (must be on constantly in EU)
High beam works
Brake lights illuminate
Reverse lights work
Parking lights work

Brakes respond instantly
Turn signals work (left and right)
Horn works
Steering wheel turns easily

Windshield wipers work
All three mirrors in place
No cracks longer than 30 cm

Tread minimum 1.6 mm
November-March: ONLY winter tires (mandatory in Poland)
No bulges or damage

Reflective vests for EVERY passenger
First aid kit
Fire extinguisher (minimum 1 kg)
2 warning triangles OR emergency beacons

If something doesn't work, repair it BEFORE the border. Border guards can deny exit.
